Marc Bannerman reveals Corrie role ambitions

Former EastEnders star Marc Bannerman has revealed that he would love the chance to star in Coronation Street, playing Carla Connor's brother. The 38-year-old - who played Gianni Di Marco in the BBC1 soap - confessed to Inside Soap magazine that he now has his eye on Weatherfield, as producers hunt for an actor to play the role.
"I'd love to be in another soap," he said. "I really loved the relationships we built up in EastEnders, and the fact you get such a long time to develop your character. I hear they're casting for Carla Connor's brother in Corrie at the moment - I'd love to do that."
Marc - who appeared on I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here in 2007, during which he famously romanced singer Cerys Matthews - is no stranger to controversial storylines, with his EastEnders alter-ego having been the victim of domestic violence at the hands of his girlfriend. "That was quite ground-breaking at the time - the man being the victim of the abuse," he admitted.

He looks very different then I remember him. The Di Marcos were really just wrapping up when I was able to watch again and it was the story line with the daughter and the teacher, so his abuse storyline must have already played out. One more Ender on the cobbles? I say go for it! |
